Beauty Tips for Summer*
7:06:00 pm
1) Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water should
be the top of everyone’s to-do list, particularly during those hot summer days.
Be sure to carry a bottle of water with you to sip from continuously throughout
the day. Hydration keeps your skin healthy giving you a natural glow.
2) Stay Protected
Harmful UV rays not only leave
you with the lobster look but they can also prematurely age skin. Most
moisturizers now come with UV protection but nothing can beat a good high SFP
factor. Don’t run the risk of skin damage by leaving the lotion at home to try
and get a ‘quick tan’.
3) Perfectly Polished in Every Way
A good polish on your manicured
fingers and toes can really enhance your tan. The Barry M collection seems to
have an endless list of bright, bold colours to choose from so everyone’s sure
to find their perfect shade. Take supplements like Vitamin B Biotin to get your
nails nice and strong or try Sally Hansen Nail Protex. This is a strengthener
with additional built in vitamins that you directly apply to your nails.
4) Tame your mane
Humid temperatures can only equal
frizz and dry hair for many. Keep your hair in top form with a natural hair
mask to give you hair that extra boost. For a cheap but effective hair
treatment, leave your regular conditioner on your hair in a shower cap
overnight.
5) Stay Smooth
Hair-free legs are the essential
summer item. Shaving is tedious and leaves your legs prickly while waxing is
not for the faint hearted. For permanent hair removal, try laser hair removal
treatments. You can even get at-home devices for you to use yourself in the
comfort of your own home, in your own time.
6) Exfoliate
Your skin is constantly exposed
in the summer so make sure it’s polished to perfection. Alternate between
mechanical exfoliations like scrubs and brushes and chemical rejuvenation or
light treatments for long term effects and soft, glowing skin. There are plenty
of options to suit all budgets when it comes to skin treatments so there’s no
excuse for dry skin.
7) Protect your hair
Most people forget about the
damage the harsh chlorine and salt water can do to you hair on holiday. If
you’re going to spend all day in the pool or at the beach, protect your hair by
applying a protector like Reflect H20, the ‘invisible swim cap’, before going
into the water. This prevents your hair from drying out and can also stop the
colour from being stripped by the chlorine.
8) Sun-kissed Hair
Although not recommended for
brunettes who don’t want an orange look, a natural way to boost and highlight
blonde hair is to apply a mixture of lemon juice and water to your hair before
you spend all the day in the sun. It naturally highlights the hair giving it
the perfect sun-kissed look.
9) Accessorise to the Max
When it comes to beach holidays,
that statement pair of sunglasses topped with an oversized hat is a must-have
for all fashion conscious ladies. As well as giving you an elegant look, they
also work to protect your face from the sun. Be sure to apply plenty of
sun-lotion to your face when wearing sunglasses though, reverse panda eyes has
never been a good look.
10) Less is More
In the summer, most people try to
cut back on the amount of make-up they wear day-to-day. In the heat,
foundations can clog pores and make your face look greasy or sweaty. There are
many complexion boosting treatments available to give you clear, radiant skin
and the confidence to go make-up free. Tria Beauty have hit the mark with their
at home skin treatments. They have both the laser option for anti-ageing
effects as well as the celebrity favourite Blue Light treatment which acts to reduce blemish and breakouts.
