Festival Fashion Timeline by New Look
This summer I will be attending my first ever festival, with just over three weeks until Wireless Festival I am in the process of choosing my outfits and have been having a little look at festival fashion over the years to get some inspiration.
Depending on what type of festival it is you are attending the fashion can be slightly different, New Look have put together this really interesting Festival Fashion Timeline which you can see above, it shows so many different styles within the 'festival fashion' genre. It was so interesting to see how the festival trend has stayed similar over the decades but still with the same inspiration behind all the outfits.
I have been looking at denim shorts, midi skirts, printed joggers, fringing, floral prints, neon and tribal prints the most but there is so many different options making the final choice is proving to be really difficult. I am excited to see how the outfits come together, of course I will be sharing them with you so keep an eye out for them!
What key festival trends do you think I couldn't ignore?
Just a few days ago I made a rather large online order from one of my favourite high street fashion stores , New Look, it was lucky that I had a good amount of vouchers to use up or I would have a very sorry looking bank account.
I needed a major overhaul in my wardrobe as nearly everything I owned was either black, white or navy, it was becoming repetitive and I was beginning to enjoy clothes less. Whilst I was double checking my basket there was a very obvious pattern in the colours I had chosen, more than half of them were pastels. This is not a bad thing as pastels are always great for spring and summer but I was surprised that these were the colour choices I was drawn to as I'm not one to stray away from what I'm used to.
With my newly discovered love of pastel shades, I found New Look's Colour and Mood visual really interesting. I really enjoyed flicking through the graphic and learning more about the different colour trends, make sure you have a look and find out more about the colours you wear!
I completely agree with New Look's take on what the colours mean, as when I see someone wearing muted pastels they immediately come across more calm and tranquil as a person. Same goes for the candy sweet shades, they just ooze fun and happiness therefor the people wearing them must be full of fun and happiness, right? I'm excited to see if when I'm wearing my new clothes, in all their pastel glory, will it alter my mood? I will definitely report back on this in future outfit posts featuring my new pastel purchases.
Plum/purple hair is not mentioned in the 'Shade that Suits' section so it will be an experiment with my purchases to find out which pastel shades suit me best, I'm secretly hoping for mint greens and pink as they are the ones that I was drawn to most, I'm imagining they will make my hair stand out and be the most noticeable focus of my overall look. This has been my favourite outfit in a very long time I've worn variations of it for a few different occasions. This one in particular was my staff night out with Lush at the end of November, we went for a meal at The Pitcher and Piano and myself and a couple of friends carried it on dancing the night away down Hurst Street.

The day I bought this outfit I was in a rush and asked he lady to help me, she had just spoken to me for a second and came back with this whole outfit, minus the tights. As soon as I put the dress on I felt amazing, a dress hadn't fitted me so well for a long time. The neckline flatters my chest and feels comfortable, not too tight like a lot of dresses can when you have larger breasts. The waist panel is slightly elasticated letting the skirt just hang perfectly skimming over my tummy.
This belt adds a little bit of glamour but in an understated way, its the perfect width for the dress and draws attention to my upper body taking focus away from my tummy,which is the part of my body that no attention is good attention.
Black tights are a staple in my wardrobe especially in winter when its already -1 before tea time. I have been repurchasing these tights from Primark for years and they never let me down.
These wedge shoe boots are very simple with just a little gold buckle at the side, I wanted them to be simple to just give the illusion of never ending legs, a girl can dream eh. I wore them from 7pm to 6am and kept them on all night long, to me its a massive deal because I'm not very good at shoes with height especially after a few cocktails.

My Hair was freshly coloured on the day these photographs were taken so it looks the best it can colourwise. I opted for a curly blow dry pinned to the side for a little bit of sophisticated glamour, (you can read how this look was achieved here) I really enjoyed having my hair like this because it was easy to retouch throughout the night, it was so refreshing not having to worry about it being straight.
These nails from Boots are my all time favourite falsies, the length and width are perfect as I have tiny nail beds and always have to use the smallest sizes in a box of nails. With these I can get two full sets from one pack, each set lasts about 10 days on my nails, this makes for a happy Button. Sometimes I buy the uncoloured ones but on this occasion the colour matched my hair perfectly.
I decided to keep my make up really classic and make the red lip the focus, I'm going to post about this separately because I quite fancy recreating the look so that will be up soon.
